Refugees and asylum seekers are a diverse community. People with permission to work have the potential to contribute to the London economy. However this participant group is particularly vulnerable to discrimination and often has acute ESOL needs. Many newly arrived refugees have ESOL needs that require initial mother tongue teaching before progression towards Entry Level ESOL can take place. Skillswise is currently running a refugee programme funded by the London Councils and the European Social Fund. This programme incorporates ESOL and Basic skills with employability training, information, advice and Guidance (IAG), soft skills and general support. We help unemployed people on the programme to find work or progress to further learning. For more information, please find our details in “contact” section of the website.
